Donations
How is my donation used? +
Directly on the project you chose. Unrestricted gifts go wherever the need is greatest that week. Admin costs are covered by Gift Aid and specific donations.
Is Salam Charity registered? +
Yes, with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, number 1142191.
Can I get a receipt or annual statement? +
Both. Receipts arrive by email immediately and statements each April.
Challenges and events
Do I have to fundraise? +
Most challenges have a minimum fundraising target, shown clearly before you register.
Do I need experience? +
Each listing tells you what to expect and any age, fitness or experience requirements.
Can I join alone? +
Plenty of participants do, and meet the rest of Team Salam on the day.
Deployments
What is covered? +
Flights from the UK, Europe, UAE and USA, accommodation, transport, meals and your Salam kit. You raise £5,000 and pay a £200 registration fee once the target is reached.
Is it safe? +
Deployments are led by experienced staff with registered local NGO partners. We monitor conditions constantly and work with local authorities around volunteer safety.
How long is a deployment? +
Usually seven days, with working days from about 9am to 6pm and an evening reflection session.
Sponsorship
How much is orphan sponsorship? +
£55 a month, covering meals, education, healthcare and shelter.
Will I hear from the child? +
You receive an annual update and photo, and letters are passed on by our partners.
